Bryce Sea Waves…

If Im not mistaken (and I usually am =B), someone wanted to know how they could best imitate turbulent sea waves and crashes…
My 1st thought is that this is best accomplished using a combination of terrains, some as the sea base or floor, and then another set used for the water. You would have to place the water terrain above and crossing over the sea floor, but the real trick would be in the actual bump map used for the sea water terrain…
I did find a tutorial to better explain, there are others around (alot of the older tutorials have dissappeared in my search strangely enough), but this I think is really good…

Youll have to play and experiment ALOT of course to get the exact effect you want, but thats most of the fun in Bryce isnt it =D
You may get “lucky” and be able to get the effect using a good and powerful bump map on an infinite water slab, but I doubt it (depends on the look you want?!?)… The Bryce terrain editor is seriously powerful, do not underestimate the power of the fractal generator in it combined w/ the filters… You can get real slick and use 3 terrains… 1 for the sea florr, 1 for the water, and yet another just for “sea foam”… Variating the materials can be another powerful agent in creating the exact look and feel of the water that you want…
Hope that helps, let me know how it goes =D
