Mental ray+large textures+many polygons
So, having had this problem for quite a while, I’m now seeking halp. The problem: mental ray constantly crashes due to memory error while rendering a scene with large textures. I have tried everything to minimize the memory consumption (knowing there’s a 1,5GB limit windows XP can allocate to a single program). I have the conserve, memory, bitmap pager, placeholder objects etc turned on, but still, there’s simply not enough memory available. Is there any more tricks I can do to get over this error?
My machine has 8GB of RAM, so that should not be a problem… maybe then winXP is the problem! Any other windows known to man that could offer a single program more memory?
